Journey with the Five Spirits

A QiGong & Yin Practitioner Training

Dates for the next cohort begin November 2026-January 2027

You are invited to journey together down the mountain of the Self in this practice focused 60 hour training rooted in embodied understanding of energetics from the Taoist perspective.

Explore the Inner Elements

Known as the Wu Shen, the five spirits are a mystical and hidden aspect of Chinese medicine. While they are not often included in yin yoga/Qigong curriculums, the five spirts are the bridge between the spirit and the soma (the physical body). They can be thought of as a map to our soul-or hidden dimensions of consciousness.

In understanding the five spirits, we can understand the link between psycho-spiritual disturbances and physical disease.

Throughout the training we will explore how the five spirits show up in our life and how listening to their wisdom can enhance our practice, our teaching and our life. Guided meditations, inquiry, yin yoga, Qigong and breathwork will set the foundation for our study, while lectures, energetic anatomy and philosophy will be used to inspire further inquiry.

The intention of this 60 hour training is to provide an embodied understanding of energetics from the Taoist perspective.

This training also includes:

  • An introduction to the language of Chinese Medicine and the Five Elements

  • Finding your voice as a teacher (or however you choose to apply these prinicples)

  • Cultivating the essence of your Tao (your path)

  • Learning and practice the Taoist Five Qigong set with the intention to be able to share or teach this set

  • Learn and practice yin yoga as a part of a Qigong practice and a container for Nei Gong (inner energy practices)

  • Practice teaching to your peers if you attend the live

  • This may be considered the beginning of your Qigong teacher training, or a continued deepening of your current practice

This course will offer detailed information about the five yin organs as defined in Chinese energetic medicine, as well as spiritual philosophy that can help enrich and deepen our capacity as movement teachers and space holders.

While the meridians, their location and associated postures will be taught, this training will encourage students to enter into an intimate relationship with their own energy system through deep practice and self-study.

Testimonial

“I truly enjoy this style of learning throughout, which opens questions and concepts to explore at a practical pace, with room for movement and flexibility, without a finality or like, certainty. It allows a "living out" of the questions, vs a final answer or ending. Instead of "this is the way it is and that's that!" I love that its more like "tell me how you experience it". This feels so much more natural and allows space for my own understanding of the material and how I operate as a person. I love being able to learn in a way that feels open versus restrictive. It feels so much more resonant with my body, mind, and soul. It also helps to "unwind the grind" that we are so used to maintaining, and offers a totally different way of approaching life altogether. Thank you Stephanie and Christine :)”

Before we descend the mountain

we start close in

gather our materials

learn the language

check our maps

and practice our skills

Then

We begin

with a speck of starlight

turning its gaze to matter

descending through

clouds of vision & imagination

to land on earth

the center point on which

the Wheel Turns.

Oh, but we aren’t done yet

the cavern to the under earth realms

yawns open in our periphery

to beckon us deeper

the call of the depths

where the yin rises

we each find our own voice

our own path
